In fact I was chatting to a friend this week who felt his entire website was a waste of time because it was only bringing in the kind of clients he didn’t want to work with!
There are many factors as to why you may be largely appealing a certain type of client, just as there are many (thankfully for you) solutions to change the kind of people who think your business is hot stuff compared to those who just don’t care. In truth it all comes down to a combination of reasonably cosmetic tweaks.
I’ve worked this down into…
5 ways to target a higher-end clientele
1) COMMUNICATION
Not only does your language and tone of voice matter, but when and how you communicate contributes to the perceived value of your product or service. Transparency is key, prompt communication is key, and a professional approach, all add to a high-value experience that attracts a high-end clientele.
2) BRAND
A massive player in whether you’ll receive enquiries from someone looking for a quick deal vs a quality client searching for the right solution for them is the way your brand looks, feels and sounds within the market. A brand that looks and feels high-end throughout every avenue will turn away lower quality clients and attract those with high-end values and high-end budgets.
3) PORTFOLIO
Regardless of your industry, the previous projects you showcase across your website and social media directly correlates to the kind of projects you’ll continue to get. My advice? Get rid of any and all projects that don’t reflect the kind of work you want to win. Add personal projects to fill in gaps if need be. But ultimately, fewer high quality projects is nurtures long term growth than many low quality projects.
4) DETAILS
Details matter. That’s the long and short of it. Whether an individual detail is seemingly noticeable or not, everything your business says, does, looks like and stands for combines to paint a picture of a company worth buying from. A surprising amount of details are sub-consciously picked up by buyers, all of which generate an overall feeling in the mind of your target market. A high-end client requires the details to be taken care of.
5) PROCESS
For high-end clients it’s all about the process. This includes the process for a customer pre-purchase, during purchase and after purchase. High-end customers expect a high-end experience throughout. From the moment a potential client first interacts with your brand, a smooth, straightforward process with clear steps and touch-points that feel quality is key. Communication, experience and interactions all play an important role in either damaging or adding value to your brand.
